Last week's poll revealed that 50% of you said your board members don't see fundraising as part of their role, it struck a familiar chord. And it's not surprising—if fundraising expectations aren't made crystal clear, board members fill in the blanks themselves.
Here's the fix: bake fundraising into the culture, not just the conversation. That means clear role descriptions, consistent reminders, and strategic storytelling that connects their efforts to real results.
Fundraising is more than asking—it's advocating, connecting, and investing in the mission they believe in. When board members understand the "why" and the many ways they can contribute, engagement increases.
Pro tip: Create a simple "fundraising menu" that offers diverse ways to participate—from hosting small gatherings to making introductions—so every board member can find their comfort zone while still contributing meaningfully.
